A Special Moment You Enjoyed With Your Family

Today, was one of the festivals of the Hindu religion. It is called the Pongal festival where we cook some sweet glutinous rice together with some vegeterian dishes. This festival is to worship the god who gives us food to live. This festival is split into four days. The first day is when we clear all the old things from the house and burn them in a big bonfire. Then we clean our house and try to make them clean as possible. The second day is today where we cook the rice and pray to god and eat together as a family. This is my favourite day because all our relatives will get together and dine together. The third day is when we worship the cows for they produce milk for us.The fourth day is the last day of the festival where we pray again. This festival is a special moment to be with my family.

On the first day, we got together and cleared the old things from our house and threw them away.We obviously cannot burn them in Singapore. It was fun because we were able to interact with our parents and the family bond became stronger. It was a relieve to clear all the old things from the house. Our house looked brand new after the spring-clean.

On the second day we cooked the rice and made some dishes. That afternoon we all sat together and ate our lunch. These was a special moment since we were able to sit together and have a chit-chat session which enabled us to spend time with our relatives. The most solemn event was when worshipping the god. After that we had to clean up the dining area.My parents and I did it together and it was fun.

We will be continuing our celebrations tomorrow and the day after and I will be going to Serangoon road to see the cows and on Saturday we will be praying before the festival draws to a close. This festival has given me opportunities to spend time with my families and this was indeed a special moment.
