Something Unusual That Happened In School

One day,it was during the OPW period when this happened. My assistant form teacher was not here and my form teacher could not conduct the lesson so he started to tell about his life and his time as a student. It was very interesting and unusual since my teacher normally does not waste the time by telling stories or about his childhood. The class was enjoying every moment of the period and we kept asking questions to make him carry on telling his stories.

He told us that when he was a student like us, he did not like Chinese and thus skipped the lesson for three weeks. The teacher saw him and instead of scoldind him and punishimg him she said that he should try to come to the lessons as much as possible in a nice way.He said that what the teacher said was what turned into a different position and he said that it was because of her that he was teaching in Victoria. It was very touching and I felt proud of his teacher.

Thus, he continued to tell us more of his childhood stories and it was quite fun.It was shocking when he said that he failed his English during O levels. He was very confident and when he got that result he was heart-broken.But with determination and perseverence he appealed to go to college and retook his English paper there. He passed it that time and did well in his A levels and went to NUS.It is the top university in Singapore which he went.I think that we should look at him as a role model. The story-telling session was aa unsual time.

A Problem You Encountered And How You Managed it.

Last year, during the June School Holidays,we had planned to go to the island of Pulau Tioman. We had already paid and booked the transport and the resort located at the island.Suddenly,I started to have pimples forming all over my body.I did not suspect anything. Then my mother told me it could be chicken pox.Sure enough,it was chicken pox and I had to be bed-ridden for one week since it is contagious and it could spread to all my family members.I was terrified since it was the first time I had chicken pox and I did not know what were the effects of it.

Slowly, the itch started to creep in and soon I was scratching every minute as it was very itchy.I could not sleep in the night as I kept scratching my body.It was very itchy.I normally tried to divert my attention from scratching to something else like playing computer and watching television. It was very boring as I could not go outdoors and play soccer, badminton or basketball. The one week went by very slowly and nobody could visit me as the chicken pox is very contagious.I just had to sit down there and do absolutely nothing except some indoor activities which I had to do myself. It was very boring and I felt excluded from my family.

The second problem was how to go overseas with chicken pox but the doctor gave me some medicine to apply on the pimples. It was tiring since I had to do it every three hours.Soon the pimples turned black and it means I am recovering. Thus we continued our journey to Pulau Tioman and came very contented and happy because it was a nice place. The chicken pox was a terrifying experience.

A Moment Spent Alone Doing Something You Enjoyed

Normally, I am a type of person who likes to do things alone without any noise and interruptions from people or other sources of noise.I do not usually get freedom to do things alone as they have suspicions about what are you doing and where are you going. One day, a opportunity came to do something myself for about a few hours without my parents supervision or interruptions. My parents were going out and I was not going out with them.So I decided to go fishing myself at the nearby Bedok Jetty.I was very excited and could not tart to fish.I wanted to return home victorious to show my parents that I am capable of spending my time usefully.

I went to the jetty and fixed my line and set up my tools to start  fishing. The jetty was unusually quiet as it was a school holiday and only schools were closed. Thus, I had quite a peaceful surrounding to fish and my hopes of getting a fish was growing since there were not many people.I got my line ready and threw my line out as far as I can.I waited for some time before I felt a tug on my line.I quickly pulled my line as fast as I can with all my strength.Unfortunately, It was just a piece of garbage that was floating on the waters.I did not give up and tried another time.Soon I caught a pomfret and soon after I started to catch a number of fishes which were edible.I was glowing with happiness and was jumping up and down like a mad men.

I went home filled with a lot of fishes with the weight that I could not almost carry. We had a feast the next day of fish sambal and steamed fish.It was mouth-watering and I still can taste the meat of the fish I caught. It was a moment spent alone doing something I enjoyed.

Something You Enjoyed With Your Family

On Saturday,my family and I did not know how to spend our day together when my aunt came up with the idea of prawn fishing. It was a good idea and we quickly packed our things to go to the the area for the prawn fishing. We quickly got into my aunt and uncle's cars to arrive at the prawn fishing area. When we reached East Coast Park,we were lost and could not find the place for the prawn fishing.Eventually we asked people for directions and reached the place after searching for it for a very long time.

It was quite a big place and we quite excited to start fishing for prawns. My grandmother said that if we caught prawns and crabs, she said that she would cook it for us to have it for the next day.I could not start to catch and was jumping up and down until my parents could not tolerate to the extent that they quickly bought for me the rod and the equipments.I started catching and every five minutes I caught a prawn or a crab.It was joyful and I started dreaming of a feast.Soon my parents joined in and we continued to catch seafood after seafood.Soon it was time to get back and it was sad to leave but I could not wait for the feast tomorrow.

The next day we cooked the prawns and crabs and it was quite a feast for the prawns was just mouth-watering.We enjoyed the feast and it was quite a good idea to spend the day in that manner.I recommend this idea to everyone who do not know how to spend the day in a useful and fun manner

Something That Took Place In School

Today was a day where I had all my not favourite subjects like science and english. The day got kick started with history.Today, unusually history was boring maybe because we were doing the source based questions for revision. But as usual time went by as quick as lightning. Then came science. As usual it was very very very boring. Most of us were lying down on the table. Some of us were taking down very important notes that will help us with our revision for the upcoming Continual Assessment 1.

After lagging through science, the recess bell rang and we rushed to different places.I went to the field to play soccer which I do daily. It is like my hobby.Soccer is something physical which enables us to be free and enjoy after four long periods of studying.Soon we had to go to Mother Tongue class.I had to go to the library for MT class. It was boring because we had to borrow tamil books which had proverbs in it  and we had tomread it and record it down.It was not what I wanted because normally MT class would be fun.

After that was English. It was going to be three periods long and I expected to be long and boring. The first period was boring since we had tom bring our files and I did not bring it.Thus I had to record down whatever teacher told us to do.The second period started boringly.I thought it is going to be boring but suddenly we started throwing things at each other.English lesson started to become game period. We concentrated on lesson but at the same time we were playing throwing of things at each other. We declared war against each other and started throwing even more violently but our teacher was oblivious to the havoc we were creating at the back of her.Whenever she turned around we kept quiet. The moment she turned back we started the havoc. This lasted until the end of her lesson which was the last lesson of the day. This was the best EL lesson I had had this year so far.

A Special Moment You Enjoyed With Your Family

Today, was one of the festivals of the Hindu religion. It is called the Pongal festival where we cook some sweet glutinous rice together with some vegeterian dishes. This festival is to worship the god who gives us food to live. This festival is split into four days. The first day is when we clear all the old things from the house and burn them in a big bonfire. Then we clean our house and try to make them clean as possible. The second day is today where we cook the rice and pray to god and eat together as a family. This is my favourite day because all our relatives will get together and dine together. The third day is when we worship the cows for they produce milk for us.The fourth day is the last day of the festival where we pray again. This festival is a special moment to be with my family.

On the first day, we got together and cleared the old things from our house and threw them away.We obviously cannot burn them in Singapore. It was fun because we were able to interact with our parents and the family bond became stronger. It was a relieve to clear all the old things from the house. Our house looked brand new after the spring-clean.

On the second day we cooked the rice and made some dishes. That afternoon we all sat together and ate our lunch. These was a special moment since we were able to sit together and have a chit-chat session which enabled us to spend time with our relatives. The most solemn event was when worshipping the god. After that we had to clean up the dining area.My parents and I did it together and it was fun.

We will be continuing our celebrations tomorrow and the day after and I will be going to Serangoon road to see the cows and on Saturday we will be praying before the festival draws to a close. This festival has given me opportunities to spend time with my families and this was indeed a special moment.
